Finance Manager

Our client is seeking a commercially savvy and hands-on Finance Manager to lead a critical finance transformation programme while overseeing the day-to-day performance of the finance operations and financial accounting functions.

Reporting directly to the GM Finance, this is a highly visible leadership role with responsibility for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Credit Control and Financial Accounting across a complex multi-entity organisation.

This opportunity will appeal to someone who enjoys getting under the hood of a finance function, understanding how processes really work, challenging the status quo, and implementing practical improvements that create lasting value.

Leading a team of six, you'll be responsible for ensuring the finance function operates efficiently while driving meaningful improvements. Your role will be to identify where processes can be streamlined, where work can be allocated more effectively, and how finance can better utilise technology to improve outcomes.

You'll also play a key role in ensuring that finance data flows accurately between systems, supporting reliable financial reporting and informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the operational performance of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing and Credit Control.
• Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to your team.
• Own the month-end close process and oversee financial accounting activities, including journals, reconciliations and financial statements.
• Review existing workflows and introduce practical, sustainable process improvements.
• Support statutory reporting requirements and ensure ongoing compliance across multiple entities.
• Manage audit preparation and external audit relationships.
• Develop clear process documentation, controls, workflows and operating procedures.
• Use reporting, analytics, Power BI, AI and other tools to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Support the GM Finance with insights, reporting and recommendations that strengthen the overall finance function.

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting capability with a passion for process improvement and people leadership.

You'll bring:

• CA qualification
• Experience leading both transactional finance and financial accounting functions.
• Strong understanding of AP, AR, Billing, Credit Control and Financial Reporting.
• Demonstrated success improving finance processes within complex organisations.
• Experience mapping workflows, documenting processes and implementing operational improvements.

This is a 12-month fixed term role based in Central Auckland.
