What they need
Talent Ledger is partnering with a well-established not-for-profit to find a hands-on Senior Accountant or Finance Manager to take ownership of its finance and corporate services functions.
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Our client is a well-established not-for-profit supporting communities across New Zealand, with offices in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch. The organisation is growing, and this newly created role is a key part of building a finance function that can support that growth.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the GM Finance & Corporate Services, you'll deliver accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and funder accountability, and manage the organisation's corporate services. Your focus will include:
- Preparing monthly journals, reconciliations and management accounts (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow), with clear variance commentary, identifying emerging risks and recommending corrective action
- Coordinating annual budgets and quarterly forecasts with managers, including scenario and workforce-cost modelling
- Monitoring cash flow, significant movements and funding timing
- Monitoring contract income, revenue recognition and expenditure against funding agreements, and preparing accurate, timely funder and contract financial reports
- Preparing audit schedules and coordinating information requests with the auditors
- Maintaining effective finance procedures, reconciliations, controls and compliance records
- Providing practical financial advice to managers and budget holders, and improving reporting, coding and finance systems to reduce manual effort
- Managing property leases, facilities, office requirements, insurance, fleet and organisational assets
- Overseeing procurement and supplier relationships, and drafting, reviewing and monitoring supplier and service agreements
- Developing and embedding practical standard operating procedures across finance and corporate services
- Leading, managing and developing a small administration team
ABOUT YOU
- CA or CPA qualified (preferred), or equivalent strong, hands-on experience
- Experience running a finance end to end in a commercial or not-for-profit environment
- Strong Xero skills. Experience with ApprovalMax and PayHero is a bonus but not essential
- Confident producing accurate, deadline-driven reporting with quality commentary
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset. You'll spot improvements and take ownership of delivering them.
- Payroll experience is an advantage but not essential
- NZ citizenship or residency is required
WHAT'S ON OFFER
- The chance to shape a finance function in a growing, purpose-driven organisation
- A GM who will support your development, with valuable corporate finance experience to learn from
- Birthday leave, wellbeing benefits and a work phone and plan
- For permanent staff: five weeks' annual leave, medical insurance and onsite parking
FIXED TERM OR PERMANENT?
We're open to either. A fixed-term contract is a great way to get to know the organisation before committing, or you can join permanently from the start.
