What they need

Purpose of the Role

As RVM Systems scales ahead of the UK's Deposit Return Scheme rollout, we're looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead our finance function, ensuring accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial operations across a fast-growing, asset-heavy, service-led business. This is a hands-on role, combining financial control and reporting with direct ownership of leading the deployment of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as the company's core finance and operations system.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control & Reporting:

  • Own the month-end and year-end close process, including accruals, prepayments, journals, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, board packs, and KPI dashboards for senior management
  • Maintain and strengthen financial controls, policies, and approval procedures across the business
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, and treasury requirements
  • Oversee statutory reporting, VAT returns, and corporation tax compliance, liaising with external accountants and auditors
  • Lead the year-end audit process and manage the relationship with external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, Companies House filing requirements, and other relevant regulation

Systems Leadership — Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central:

  • Lead the end-to-end deployment of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as the company's finance and operations system
  • Own requirements gathering, module configuration (general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, inventory), and data migration from existing systems
  • Manage the relationship with the implementation partner and RVM Systems' IT/R&D team in Estonia
  • Design and document finance processes and controls within Business Central, and lead user acceptance testing
  • Train the finance team and wider business users, and provide ongoing system ownership post go-live

Business Partnering & Commercial Support:

  • Act as finance business partner to the Managing Director, Sales, Operations, and Commercial teams
  • Provide financial input and modelling to support retailer tenders, pricing, and leasing
  • Own the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts, tracking performance against plan and explaining variances
  • Support contract review and revenue recognition for service, maintenance, and software agreements
  • Support the exploration of a rental/financing option for RVM equipment, including assessing the financial and regulatory requirements involved (e.g. registering as a financial institution or consumer credit provider).

Team & Operations:

  • Manage, develop, and review the performance of the Finance Assistant(s)
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including supplier and customer relationship management
  • Own payroll administration, ensuring accurate and timely processing and authorisation each month
  • Oversee asset and inventory tracking processes reflecting the physical nature of the business (machines, parts, and consumables)

Requirements

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience of working with and leading an implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Significant post-qualification experience in a Finance Manager or similar role
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP, VAT, and statutory reporting
  • Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes and preparing management accounts
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior finance staff
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Desirable:

  • Experience within an operationally intensive, asset-heavy, or service-led business
  • Experience of budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling in a commercial environment
  • Experience working across a group finance structure with international stakeholders
  • Experience supporting retailer tenders or contract-based revenue models

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • 25 days holiday plus public holidays
  • Pension scheme
  • The opportunity to lead the finance function and a major systems transformation during a significant period of business growth
