Finance Manager – Import & Export Operations

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Finance Manager to manage the company's financial operations, cost controls, budgeting, cash flow, profitability analysis and management reporting. The successful candidate should have previous finance or accounting experience within an import/export, international trading, logistics, shipping or related business environment. The role requires a strong understanding of cross-border transactions, shipment costing, foreign currencies and international trade documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the company's complete accounting and financial reporting functions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual Profit and Loss Statements, Balance Sheets and Cash Flow Statements.
• Prepare accurate management reports, financial analysis and business-performance summaries for management.
• Develop annual budgets, financial forecasts and cash-flow projections.
• Monitor actual financial performance against budgets and explain significant variances.
• Manage operating expenses and introduce effective cost-control procedures.
• Calculate and review landed costs, shipment costs and profitability for each transaction, customer, product and market.
• Monitor purchasing costs, sales margins, freight charges, customs duties, insurance, handling fees and other import/export-related expenses.
• Prepare shipment-level and contract-level profit-and-loss analyses.
• Monitor accounts receivable, accounts payable, customer collections and supplier payments.

About you

• Bachelor's degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent would be an advantage.
• At least 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience, preferably with supervisory or managerial responsibilities.
• Previous experience in an import/export, international trading, logistics, shipping, freight-forwarding or related industry is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of expense management, budgeting, costing, cash-flow management, P&L preparation and management reporting.
• Practical experience in shipment costing, landed-cost calculations and gross-margin analysis.
• Familiarity with international trade documentation and cross-border transactions.
• Experience managing multicurrency transactions and foreign-exchange differences.
• Good knowledge of Malaysian accounting, tax and statutory requirements.
