Finance Operations Lead

Location: London (Onsite)

Type: Full-Time

About Us

We are a next-generation humanoid robotics company, headquartered in London with global teams in Boston and Vancouver. As we grow from advanced R&D into manufacturing and commercial deployment, we’re scaling the finance team to match the complexity and speed of the business.

We’re hiring a Finance Operations Lead to take ownership of our core finance processes—managing daily execution, building scalable systems, and improving how finance supports the business. This is a hands-on leadership role with strong cross-functional exposure, ideal for someone who wants to grow into broader financial leadership in a high-velocity company.

⸻

About the Role

As Finance Operations Lead, you will oversee the day-to-day financial engine of the business: managing payables and receivables, running close processes, ensuring accurate books, and improving how data flows through the organisation. You will also help drive continuous improvement in systems, controls, and reporting—building the operational discipline that underpins scale.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Finance and FP&A Lead, while also partnering with procurement, engineering, supply chain, people, and product teams to ensure financial processes are integrated, efficient, and fit for purpose.

This role combines ownership of financial execution with process transformation, systems thinking, and stakeholder enablement.

⸻

Key Responsibilities

Finance Operations Ownership

  • Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll coordination, and vendor payments across entities
  • Manage the month-end close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals
  • Maintain clean, timely, and accurate records in our accounting systems across multi-entity and multi-currency operations
  • Ensure internal finance operations run smoothly, with minimal manual effort or friction

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Build and refine finance workflows, approval chains, and internal controls
  • Lead the implementation and optimisation of finance tools (ERP, accounting software, expense platforms)
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and procurement to improve end-to-end data quality and reporting
  • Document and communicate processes clearly to ensure team-wide adoption

Reporting & Compliance Support

  • Support the Head of Finance with internal reporting on actuals, burn, and vendor spend
  • Maintain visibility into cost centres, contracts, and recurring expenses
  • Prepare documentation and data for audit, statutory filings, and compliance reporting
  • Contribute to VAT, R&D claims, and regional reporting requirements in collaboration with external advisors

Business Partnering

  • Be the go-to operational finance contact for teams across the business
  • Provide high-integrity data and financial insight to functional leaders as needed
  • Support proactive vendor management, cost optimisation, and spend governance
  • Work with FP&A to reconcile plans, actuals, and forecasts

⸻

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years experience in finance operations, accounting, or financial control roles
  • Strong technical fluency across bookkeeping, payables/receivables, and close processes
  • Experience working in early- or growth-stage product businesses (e.g. hardware, manufacturing, deep tech)
  • Comfortable leading process design and system implementation from the ground up
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and motivated by clean, well-governed operations
  • Able to collaborate across levels and functions, while maintaining operational independence

⸻

Bonus Points

  • Experience with NetSuite, Xero, or other ERP/accounting platforms

  • Familiarity with UK/US/Canadian VAT and R&D tax credits

  • Background in audit, compliance, or internal controls

  • Exposure to scaling finance functions in venture-backed or globally distributed teams

  • Work mode: office full time/5 days per week, Paddington district (London) - 5 min walk from Paddington station - 5 Merchant Sq, London W2 1AY

⸻

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a finance team shaping the trajectory of a category-defining robotics company
  • Take ownership of critical operations that underpin growth and resilience
  • Build systems and processes that scale with the ambition of the company
  • Join a high-performance culture where precision, transparency, and trust are non-negotiable
