Financial Accountant - Finance - CDI/Freelance

Context

A financial institution in Luxembourg is looking for a Financial Accountant to strengthen its finance department. You will work on the financial closing, financial statements, and financial reporting of the institution and of the mandates it manages on behalf of third parties, in an international environment combining several accounting frameworks (IFRS, EU Accounting Directives, EC Accounting Rules, IPSAS-based rules).

Missions

Financial accounting

• Contribute to the periodic financial closing: collect and analyse financial data, prepare and document accounting entries, perform reconciliations and key controls, resolve accounting issues

• Support the continuous improvement of accounting procedures and documentation

Financial statements and reporting

• Assist with the preparation, review and coordination of annual and semi-annual financial statements, reporting packages and other periodic financial reports for the institution and for mandates managed on behalf of third parties

• Support the preparation of disclosure notes, supporting schedules, analytical reviews and reporting deliverables under IFRS, EU Accounting Directives, EC Accounting Rules and IPSAS-based rules

• Respond to requests from internal stakeholders, external auditors, the European institutions and other counterparties

• Contribute to management reports, regulatory reports, ad-hoc financial analyses and reporting presentations

• Prepare and review standardised reporting packages sent to third-party stakeholders for consolidation or oversight

• Draft and maintain financial reporting procedures, methodologies and working papers

New mandates, products and accounting developments

• Support the implementation of new mandates, programmes, products or initiatives, including pro-forma financial statements and reporting templates

• Perform accounting analyses and technical assessments to determine the appropriate accounting treatment of new products, transactions or reporting requirements

Environment

• Accounting frameworks: IFRS, EU Accounting Directives, EC Accounting Rules, IPSAS

• ERP / accounting system and advanced Excel

• Close collaboration with auditors, finance, risk and business teams

Working Conditions

• Contract: Freelance, CDI or CDD: we will find a solution as long as you are the right candidate

• Location: Luxembourg, on site (no remote work)

• Candidates must be ready to relocate and work in Luxembourg

• Salary / daily rate: depending on profile

• Languages: English and French

1. Master's degree in accounting, finance or audit; a professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, expert-comptable or equivalent) is a plus
2. At least 4 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting, ideally in a financial institution, an investment fund environment or a Big Four audit firm
3. Solid knowledge of IFRS; exposure to EU Accounting Directives or IPSAS is a strong asset
4. Hands-on experience of period-end closing, reconciliations, financial statements and disclosure notes
5. Used to working with external auditors
6. Rigorous, analytical, able to document procedures and work with multiple stakeholders
7. Fluent English and French
8. Ready to relocate and work on site in Luxembourg
