This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting or finance professional who enjoys taking ownership, working independently, and making a tangible impact within a small, collaborative team. The role offers broad responsibility across core accounting activities, financial reporting, and process improvement, with the opportunity to help build efficient and reliable finance processes within a purpose-driven international organization.

The Opportunity
As Financial Controller, you will take ownership of day-to-day accounting activities and play a central role in the monthly financial close. Working closely with colleagues across the organization, you will help ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong financial controls, and identify opportunities to improve processes.
This is a broad, hands-on role that would suit someone who is comfortable working autonomously, enjoys bringing structure to financial operations, and is motivated by being part of a small team where their contribution is visible and valued.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and posting journal entries independently.
- Processing and posting supplier invoices accurately and on time.
- Preparing and issuing customer invoices.
- Supporting accounts receivable and accounts payable, including follow-up and reconciliations.
- Managing deferred revenue schedules and related accounting entries.
- Taking ownership of the month-end close, including balance sheet reconciliations and review.
- Ensuring the monthly close is completed within three working days.
- Identifying opportunities to strengthen financial controls, streamline processes, and improve the quality of financial information.
- Contributing to the broader finance function and supporting a range of accounting activities as part of a small, collaborative team.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a structured, proactive finance professional who combines strong accounting fundamentals with a hands-on approach and the ability to work independently.
You will ideally bring:
- A relevant qualification in accounting, finance, business administration, or a comparable field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of practical experience in financial accounting or controlling.
- A sound understanding of journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end closing.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, timely financial reporting.
- The ability to prioritize effectively, take ownership, and deliver within tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Professional proficiency in English.
What's on Offer?
- Meaningful responsibility: A broad finance role with ownership of core accounting processes and the monthly close.
- A collaborative environment: The opportunity to work within a small team where initiative and individual contributions matter.
- Purpose-driven work: The chance to support an internationally recognized organization advancing the circular economy.
- Flexible employment: A 60-100% position, equivalent to approximately three to five days per week.
- Competitive compensation: A gross annual salary of €50,000-€60,000 on a full-time basis, depending on experience and qualifications, prorated for part-time employment.
- Hybrid working: An Amsterdam-based role with a minimum of two days per week in the office.
