Financial Controller

Requirements

• A qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• Ideally 5 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant, Accountant, or similar finance role
• Strong understanding of month-end accounting, general ledger, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Experience with statutory reporting and compliance
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and high Excel/financial systems capability
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
• A proactive approach to identifying and implementing process and system improvements
• Experience within mining, resources, construction, civil, or a similar project-based environment is highly regarded

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and complete month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and review of the general ledger.
• Prepare and review P&L and balance sheet accounts and assist with monthly and year-end financial reporting.
• Complete balance sheet and reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure outstanding items are resolved.
• Prepare, reconcile, and lodge statutory obligations including BAS, Fuel Tax Credits, Payroll Tax, TPAR, FBT, and superannuation.
• Support year-end reporting and external audits, whilst maintaining and improving financial controls, procedures, and accounting systems.
• Work collaboratively across Finance and the wider business, providing support and oversight across AP, AR and Payroll where required.
