Financial Controller

Foundations Group Recovery Centers is a BSAS licensed and JCAHO accredited Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program. The Financial Controller is a senior accounting manager who oversees a company's financial records, budgets, and reporting.

Competencies

Ability to prepare accurate financial statements, balance accounts, and manage ledger systems in line with Accounting guidelines.

Deep understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), internal controls, and specific public-sector or nonprofit regulations

Ability to investigate budget shortfalls, reconcile transaction discrepancies, and correct financial irregularities.

Proactively communicates assertively and consistently throughout the organization. Ensures that important matters are shared with all appropriate individuals.

Talent for managing concurrent priorities like monthly closing, annual audits, and regulatory reporting

Essential Functions

o Financial Reporting: prepares accurate financial statements, balance sheets and income statements in compliance with regulatory and accounting standards.

o Auditing and Compliance manages internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to financial laws, regulations and institutional policies.

o Budgeting and Forecasting: Monitors budget compliance, reviews expenditures, and develops revenue and expense forecasts to guide leadership decisions.

o Account Reconciliation: Balances ledger accounts, oversees accounts payable and receivable, and manages general ledger maintenance.

o Ensures that expenses are in line with projected revenue

o Manage A/R and A/P personnel, processing and internal controls

o Evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness

o Coordinate audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements

o All other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Education: A bachelor's or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or public administration. Masters preferred.

Certifications: Professional credentials such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or in the process of obtaining.

Required Knowledge

Strong analytical skills and business judgment to provide general financial support to the business

Experience preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Supports Y/E physical inventories and reconciliation

5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.

Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.

Experience developing and maintaining internal controls and accounting policies.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
