Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and governmental accounting standards.
• Lead the development of budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic planning initiatives.
• Supervise the accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and treasury management functions to optimize cash flow and financial health.
• Conduct cost accounting analysis to evaluate operational efficiency and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Oversee internal controls related to financial systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other accounting software platforms.
• Prepare comprehensive financial reports and analysis for executive leadership and external stakeholders.
• Manage the audit process, liaising with external auditors to ensure smooth compliance reporting.
• Lead a team of finance professionals by providing mentorship, setting performance standards, and fostering professional development.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role within non-profit or governmental organizations preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar software platforms.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance, regulatory reporting requirements, and public accounting standards.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial report writing, balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, and financial close processing.
• Experience managing accounting teams with a focus on technical accounting issues including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and general ledger reconciliation.
• Proficiency in Excel data analysis for forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling purposes.
• Familiarity with international accounting standards and regulations relevant to governmental or non-profit sectors is highly advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

Pay: $187,600.00 - $206,000.00 per year
