Financial Controller

WhiteHorse Employment are delighted to be supporting a highly regarded, purpose-led organisation with the recruitment of a Financial Controller .

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a broad finance function within an organisation where financial management plays an important role in supporting its objectives and long-term sustainability.

Working closely with the SLT and Board, you will lead an established finance team, providing robust financial oversight, clear reporting and strategic insight to support effective decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance function, including the Payroll Manager and Senior Finance Administrator.
• Oversee monthly management accounts, financial reporting and cash-flow forecasting.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning, ensuring resources are managed effectively.
• Provide financial analysis and insight to support the SLT and Board of Trustees in strategic decision-making.
• Oversee statutory reporting, audit requirements and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain robust financial controls, processes and systems, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Monitor financial risks and support the organisation's long-term financial sustainability.
• Provide trusted financial advice and business partnering to senior stakeholders across the organisation.
• Support project accounting and ensure effective financial oversight of budgets and expenditure.

About You

We are looking for an experienced finance professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders.

You will ideally be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with significant experience across financial management, reporting, budgeting and forecasting, alongside a proven track record of leading and developing a finance team.

Experience working within a charity, not-for-profit or similarly purpose-led organisation would be advantageous, as would an understanding of project-based financial management.
