About TSOLife
TSOLife is an AI-powered resident insight and experience platform providing automated data collection, business intelligence, and actionable insights for the senior living industry. We leverage cutting-edge technology to allow businesses to make data-informed decisions and truly personalize the resident experience.
About the role
TSOLife is investing in its finance organization. The Controller will own accounting end to end: the monthly close, the general ledger and core accounting operations.
Reporting directly to the CFO and working closely with leadership across the business, this is a hands-on role: you will do the work yourself while building the processes, controls and documentation that let the function scale as TSOLife grows and scales.
What you'll do
Strengthen the accounting foundation
- Document and refine accounting processes, the chart of accounts, reconciliations, recurring entries and close checklists.
- Identify and prioritize process and system improvements as the function matures.
Own the Full close cycle and the general ledger
- Deliver an accurate month-end close within a defined timeline (target: 10 business days, improving over time).
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepaids and fixed asset schedules.
- Produce monthly GAAP financial statements and further develop the existing standard reporting package for the CFO and Executive Leadership team.
Revenue and billing
- Apply ASC 606 to TSOLife's subscription and services contracts, including deferred revenue schedules.
- Oversee invoicing process, collections and AR aging in partnership with the business.
Cash, payables and payroll
- Manage accounts payable, expense reimbursement, vendor setup and payment runs.
- Own bank and credit card reconciliations and weekly cash reporting.
- Review payroll journal entries and benefit accruals with our payroll provider.
Controls, audit and tax
- Design and document internal controls appropriate for a growing, investor-backed company.
- Prepare audit schedules (PBCs) and serve as day-to-day contact for external auditors.
- Work with the CFO and outside tax advisors on income tax provision, sales and use tax, 1099s and state filings.
Systems and support to the CFO
- Own the accounting system and related tools (AP, expense, billing); lead improvements and automation.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, board reporting, investor requests and diligence.
- Maintain an accounting policy manual and close procedures.
What you bring
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years as a Controller, Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager.
- Hands-on ownership of a full month-end close, including reconciliations and financial statements.
- Strong US GAAP knowledge, including ASC 606 revenue recognition for subscription or recurring revenue.
- Experience working with auditors and preparing audit schedules.
- Proficiency with a cloud accounting system (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct or similar) and advanced Excel.
- Comfort working independently in a lean, fast-moving startup.
Preferred
- CPA (active or eligible).
- Public accounting (audit) experience followed by time in industry.
- SaaS or technology company experience; healthcare or senior living exposure is a plus.
- Experience building or scaling the accounting function at a growing company.
- Experience with venture- or PE-backed companies, board reporting and investor diligence.
- Familiarity with billing platforms (e.g., Stripe, Chargebee, Maxio) and AP/expense tools (e.g., Bill.com, Ramp, Expensify).
