Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and hands-on Controller to manage the company’s accounting and financial operations while providing strategic financial support to the CEO and leadership team. This individual will deliver timely financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to support strategic planning, operational decision-making, and overall business performance.

This is an active, working role that requires direct involvement in day-to-day accounting activities, account reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvement. The ideal candidate is willing to roll up their sleeves and perform accounting tasks while maintaining financial oversight, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring accurate and timely financial information.

We are looking for a proactive, solutions-oriented professional who takes ownership, leads by example, and balances hands-on execution with the ability to identify opportunities, solve problems, and support informed business decisions. The successful candidate will be a trusted financial partner to the CEO and leadership team, contributing to both the company’s day-to-day operations and long-term financial success.

Responsibilities

  • Actively manage and perform day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.

  • Monitor cash flow, expenses, and financial performance.
  • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and applicable financial requirements.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
  • Investigate discrepancies, resolve accounting issues, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate external audits and work with outside accountants and tax professionals.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support business decisions.
  • Manage, train, and support accounting personnel while remaining directly involved in daily work.
  • Improve accounting processes, reporting systems, and operational efficiency.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in a privately owned, founder-led, growth-stage, or mid-sized operating company strongly preferred.
  • FP&A experience preferred, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial modeling, and providing actionable insights to support business decisions.
  • Experience in operationally intensive industries, such as manufacturing, distribution, logistics, warehousing, kitting, healthcare services, diagnostics, or construction, is highly valued.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
