ABOUT BBI

BB Industries (BBI) is a growing distributor of tools and supplies for the stone fabrication industry, headquartered in Knoxville. We're a team of 60+ people across 15 states.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a hands-on Controller to lead our day-to-day accounting and own the accuracy of our financial reporting. You'll run the monthly close, strengthen our controls, and turn the numbers into clear insights for leadership. This role reports to our CFO and works closely with Operations and Sales.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

▪    

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations

▪    

Prepare timely, accurate financial statements and reports for leadership and the Board

▪    

Oversee AP, AR, collections, cash management, and inventory accounting

▪    

Analyze margins, expenses, and budget variances, and explain what's driving them in plain language

▪    

Support the annual budget and forecasts alongside the CFO

▪    

Build and maintain internal controls and accounting policies

▪    

Manage the annual audit or review and serve as the main contact for outside accountants

▪    

Oversee multi-state sales and use tax, payroll tax, 1099s, and business registrations

▪    

Supervise and develop accounting staff, and improve and automate our processes

WHAT YOU BRING

▪    

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

▪    

7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years supervising others

▪    

Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close

▪    

Inventory accounting experience in distribution, wholesale, or manufacturing

▪    

Hands-on ERP experience and advanced Excel skills

▪    

Experience with multi-state sales tax and payroll tax compliance

NICE TO HAVE

▪    

CPA license

▪    

Experience in a private equity–backed or multi-entity reporting environment

▪    

Experience leading an ERP implementation or upgrade

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is an office-based role at our Knoxville headquarters. Extra hours may be needed during month-end, year-end, and audit periods, and occasional travel may be required.
