Financial Controller

Metric Search is partnering with a growing, privately held business in the industrial and infrastructure sector to appoint an experienced Financial Controller to its finance leadership team.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will take ownership of the company's accounting operations, financial reporting and internal controls, while playing an important role in financial planning and supporting continued business growth.

This opportunity is suited to a hands-on finance professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with commercial awareness and the ability to operate effectively in a developing business.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the accounting function, overseeing financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
• Maintain compliance with US GAAP and applicable accounting standards, including revenue recognition and lease accounting.
• Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, financial forecasting, cash flow planning and performance analysis.
• Develop financial models and management reporting tools to support operational and strategic decisions.
• Strengthen financial controls, accounting policies and reporting procedures.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors and other financial stakeholders.
• Support complex accounting matters, regulatory reporting and financial statement preparation.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Provide leadership and guidance to accounting team members.
• Work cross-functionally to provide financial insight into business performance and growth initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller or similar accounting leadership position.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting and technical accounting principles.
• Experience with revenue recognition, lease accounting and complex financial transactions.
• CPA or CMA qualification strongly preferred.
• Previous public accounting or external audit experience advantageous.
• Experience managing budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Strong Excel capabilities and familiarity with modern ERP/accounting platforms.
• Exposure to regulatory or SEC reporting is beneficial.
• Proven ability to manage accounting processes, improve controls and lead finance teams.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage directly with senior leadership.

Additional Information

• Based in Austin, Texas, with an onsite requirement of five days per week.
