Construction Controller | Established Commercial General Contractor

Location: Weatherford, TX (West DFW)

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 Base + Profit Sharing + Benefits

Employment: Full-Time | On-Site

The Opportunity

Build Partners has been exclusively engaged to identify an experienced Construction Controller for a well-established, family-owned commercial general contractor in West DFW.

With nearly four decades in the construction industry and approximately $250M in annual revenue, our client offers an exciting opportunity to join a successful, growing business with a strong reputation and an established leadership team.

This is not a traditional executive-level CFO position.

We're looking for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys being involved in the detail, takes ownership of financial operations, and thrives in a busy, high-volume construction environment.

You'll work closely with senior leadership, take responsibility for the day-to-day accounting function, and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the business as it continues to grow.

What You'll Be Doing

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll oversight and cash management.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting and internal controls.
• Manage construction job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting and project profitability reporting.
• Oversee progress billing, retainage, change orders and construction contract accounting.
• Partner with project managers and operational leadership to monitor financial performance.
• Lead and develop the accounting team while identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, audits and financial compliance.

What We're Looking For

• Proven accounting experience within a commercial general contractor, industrial contractor or specialty construction business.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller position.
• Strong working knowledge of construction job costing, WIP reporting and financial statements.
• Experience with Sage 300 CRE (Timberline) and/or Sage Intacct.
• Advanced Excel skills and a solid understanding of GAAP.
• A practical, hands-on leadership style with the ability to manage a busy accounting function.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• A CPA is not required.

Location

This is a fully office-based position in Weatherford, Texas, Monday through Friday.

Candidates must already live within a realistic 60-minute driving commute of Weatherford.
