Financial Crime Analyst

We’re looking for a Financial Crime Analyst to play a key role in supporting the Company’s AML/CTF compliance across Betfair and CrownBet, through the timely and accurate delivery of operational controls including customer due diligence (initial, enhanced and ongoing), customer screening and transaction monitoring.

What you will bring:

• Demonstrate strong investigative nous, including the ability to leverage open-source information.
• Show keen dedication to enhancing your analytical skills, including keeping abreast of emerging ML/TF typologies through research.
• Build a baseline understanding of requirements under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act) and the Company’s AML/CTF Program.
• Previous experience working in an analytical and/or investigations background, including in AML/CTF functions.
• Strong wagering IQ to understanding betting anomalies/different customer betting strategies.
• Demonstrate independence and autonomy.
• Proven data analysis skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Take a very proactive approach to process improvement.
• Excellent interpersonal skills – a real team player.
• Sound Microsoft Excel and/analytical skills and proficient in the use of standard IT Packages.

Some tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Conduct in-depth customer transactional data analysis (from transaction monitoring reporting), identifying potentially unusual or suspicious behaviours.
• Conduct in-depth external, open-source customer background analysis to identify any key risks.
• Conduct periodic OCDD and ECDD reviews of high-risk customers and Corporate Accounts.
• Support Corporate Account onboarding, including managing KYC/KYB processes.
• Review and investigate customer identity (KYC), Source of Wealth and Source of Funds materials against customer profiles.
• Triage unusual activity escalations, including supporting the AMLCO in lodging Suspicious Matter Reports in accordance with the prescribed AML/CTF Act timelines.
• Triage and action PEP, Sanction and Adverse Media alerts.
• Identify and escalate accounts in accordance with the Company AML/CTF Program off-boarding criteria.
• Support periodic audit activities set out in the Company AML/CTF Program, through the collation and analysis of relevant data/information.
• Support the AMLCO in the delivery of allocated Tranche 2 Implementation Plan and Improvement Plan activities.
• Support the delivery of tactical uplift opportunities, such as the introduction of new transaction monitoring rules, OCDD/ECDD processes or technology uplift initiatives.
• Support the broader Risk and Compliance functions from time-to-time, including analysis of datasets/reporting to identifying fraudulent accounts and monitoring markets for sports/racing integrity oversight
