About us

The Vella Group is a private equity-backed, multi-site business on an exciting growth journey. Through a combination of strong organic performance and a highly active acquisition programme, we continue to expand our national footprint and integrate new businesses into the Group. As we scale, we're seeking talented finance professionals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a growing organisation.

Purpose of the role

This is a key role to support the group’s ambitious growth strategy through acquisitions. The Integration Finance Lead directs the financial and operational migration of newly acquired companies into the wider group by aligning accounting systems, standardising KPIs and helping the business identify synergies.

Key responsibilities

Acquisition & Day-1 Execution

  • Develop a structured integration plan for all newly acquired entities; review available due diligence information and liaise with M&A team to gain understanding of target entities.
  • Perform GAP analysis to identify initial risks and establish priorities.
  • Secure visibility over cash and conduct financial risk assessment.
  • Conduct post-acquisition site visits to assess the capabilities of the acquired finance team

System/Process Integration & Financial Reporting

  • Drive the transition of legacy financial data and align charts of accounts, financial controls and reporting policies to the existing group.
  • Lead the alignment of transaction workflows to established group processes, particularly around revenue recognition, billing and purchasing.
  • Produce monthly management accounts for acquired entities during the transition phase and oversee the consolidation into group reporting cycles.
  • Manage other workstream migrations including banking relationships, payroll, taxes.
  • Support Finance Business Partners with the initial budget of the acquisition target.
  • Facilitate the handover of monthly financial reporting into BAU teams.

Stakeholder Management & Value Creation

  • Act as the financial representative at internal steering meetings; manage stakeholders of all levels within the acquired business as well as the central group. Identify operational risks causing post-acquisition underperformance and flag them to group leadership team.
  • Build trust with acquired teams to support cultural and operational changes.
  • Identify potential synergies for cost savings and operational efficiencies; highlight potential risks to synergy realisation.
  • Provide input to transaction completion accounts for the purpose of deferred consideration calculations.

Skills, qualifications & experience

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent.
  • Some knowledge of business taxes and HMRC compliance.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions quickly, think pragmatically and prioritise work effectively.
  • Some experience in an operational role or previous experience with acquisition integration would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the motor industry desirable but not essential.

What does success look like?

  • Acquisitions are integrated into BAU processes in line with agreed timelines.
  • Stakeholders have a clear picture of project progress and are aware of the risks to performance.
  • The financial performance of the acquisition is reported on a regular basis throughout the integration process.

Other points relevant to the role

  • This role will require travel to acquisition targets and some onsite presence post-acquisition to support the integration.

We believe in taking care of our people. When you join The Vella Group, you’ll enjoy:
