What they need
CapSouth Wealth Management is open to hiring someone residing in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, or North Carolina who lives within practical driving distance to the greater Atlanta area. This is a primarily remote position that requires periodic travel for in-person client meetings and other business needs at CapSouth’s McDonough office and throughout the greater Atlanta area.
For over 25 years, CapSouth has earned the trust of professionals and families across the country by helping align their finances with what matters most to them. CapSouth serves clients throughout their financial journeys—from professionals building wealth and balancing competing priorities to established professionals and business owners, individuals preparing for or living in retirement, and families navigating significant life transitions. As a fiduciary company, we place our clients’ interests first and believe financial guidance should evolve as their lives, priorities, and circumstances change.
Our role extends beyond managing investments or providing standardized advice. We seek to understand each client’s financial circumstances, values, priorities, goals, and life experiences. We then connect the many parts of their financial lives and help them make decisions with greater clarity, confidence, and intention. We are a team of driven, passionate collaborators committed to providing human-first financial advice while continually improving how we serve.
We’re looking for an experienced Financial Planning Advisor who shares this sense of purpose and is motivated by more than title or compensation. The right person will want to build meaningful relationships, help clients find clarity and peace of mind, develop others, and contribute to something bigger than themselves.
The Role
The Financial Planning Advisor leads assigned client relationships, independently handling most client needs and situations while providing thoughtful, personalized financial guidance. This role develops and monitors comprehensive financial plans, oversees investment strategy within the context of each client’s broader financial plan, and helps clients align their financial resources with what matters most to them, including the legacy they want to leave.
Working closely with the Personal Wealth Director, the Financial Planning Advisor collaborates with Associate Advisors, Client Service Associates, investment, operations, and compliance team members to provide an exceptional, high-touch client experience. The role may also provide day-to-day leadership to a client service team and help develop the technical and interpersonal capabilities of others.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading assigned client relationships and independently addressing most client needs and situations
- Preparing for and leading client meetings focused on understanding each client’s financial circumstances, values, priorities, goals, and risk tolerance
- Developing, delivering, and monitoring comprehensive financial plans using RightCapital
- Providing guidance across retirement, investment, tax, estate, charitable-giving, risk-management, and other advanced planning matters
- Overseeing investment strategy within the context of each client’s broader financial plan and providing tax-planning analysis through Holistiplan and other approved tools
- Coordinating with clients’ outside tax, legal, insurance, and other professional advisors, as appropriate
- Cultivating and deepening existing client relationships while developing new relationships through referrals, professional networks, and community involvement—not cold calling or list-based lead generation.
- Collaborating with Associate Advisors, Client Service Associates, and other team members to provide a coordinated, high-touch client experience
- Acting in each client’s best interest and upholding CapSouth’s fiduciary, ethical, confidentiality, documentation, and regulatory responsibilities
This is a hands-on advisory role. The Financial Planning Advisor must be able to perform the planning work, not simply delegate it, while balancing strong technical judgment with empathy, clear communication, and genuine care for clients.
Key Qualifications include:
- CFP® or ChFC® designation required
- Five or more years of experience in financial planning, financial advising, wealth management, or a related field preferred, including experience leading client relationships
- Demonstrated ability to independently develop comprehensive financial plans and advise across a range of planning topics
- Experience with MoneyGuidePro, eMoney, or RightCapital, required; experience with Holistiplan, Salesforce, and Tamarac preferred
- Exceptional communication, listening, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong financial acumen, sound judgment, careful attention to detail, and the ability to simplify complex information
- Ability to lead, coach, delegate, manage competing priorities, and adapt effectively as client and business needs evolve
- Required securities or investment adviser registrations maintained in good standing
- An existing book of business is not required
Why CapSouth
This role is well-suited for someone who:
- Wants to help people create purpose, build meaningful legacies, and balance enjoying life today with planning thoughtfully for tomorrow
- Believes values, matters of the heart, and shared experiences belong in financial conversations—not just numbers and performance reports
- Is motivated by client impact, meaningful contribution, and helping others leave an amazing legacy—not solely title, compensation, or external recognition
- Prioritizes humanity and empathy, listens deeply, and wants to give clients both peace of mind and a trusted team that understands their financial lives
- Values integrity, respect, accountability, collaboration, authenticity, and being driven to improve
- Wants to be part of a collaborative team that celebrates each other’s success, communicates clearly and candidly, welcomes feedback, and believes a win for one is a win for all
- Combines strong technical capability with equally strong interpersonal skills to serve clients well
- Brings an authentic voice to high-touch client relationships while remaining curious, embracing thoughtful change, and improving efficiency without losing the human connection
Growth & Opportunity
This role offers the opportunity to step into established client relationships built over many years, help shape their next chapter, and contribute to CapSouth’s continued growth. As trust and readiness are demonstrated, the Financial Planning Advisor may assume broader responsibility for client relationships, team leadership, advisor development, process improvement, and company initiatives.
