Our core businessinvolves the production and sale of natural gas and electricity to supply a diverse****range of customers, including wholesale, large industrial, commercial, and residential. We are at the forefront of the energy transition, committed to delivering reliable and sustainable energy solutions with new investment in renewable energy.

We are looking for an experienced Financial Planning Lead to help shape how Nova Energy plans, forecasts and prepares for future growth.

About the role
This role is responsible for maintaining the financial planning framework that supports Nova Energy. You'll lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning processes, ensuring leaders have reliable financial information to support investment decisions, business performance and future priorities.

A significant focus over the next 12 months will be strengthening planning and reporting capability across the finance function. As the business continues to grow and invest in renewable energy, you'll help ensure our processes, models and systems can grow with it. This includes identifying opportunities to improve how work is done, introducing automation where it adds value and improving the quality, consistency and accessibility of financial information.

The role also supports valuation activities and business performance reporting, providing exposure to a broad range of commercial and financial matters.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead annual budgeting, reforecasting and long-range planning cycles for your portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain forecasting models, planning assumptions and scenario analysis.
  • Prepare regular performance reporting and executive commentary.
  • Support asset valuations, impairment assessments, audits and external reviews.
  • Identify and implement improvements to planning processes, reporting frameworks and financial models.
  • Support the development of finance systems, planning tools and automation initiatives.

About you
You're an experienced finance professional who is comfortable working through complex financial information and presenting it in a way that makes sense to different audiences.

You ask thoughtful questions, test assumptions and bring a balanced, commercial perspective to your work. You're comfortable working with senior leaders, technical specialists and operational teams, tailoring your approach to suit different situations and stakeholders.

Just as importantly, you're interested in improving how things are done. You look for practical solutions, challenge inefficient processes and are motivated by making systems and ways of working more effective over time.

What you’ll bring

  • Senior level experience in FP&A, commercial finance or business performance roles.
  • Strong financial modelling, analytical and long-range planning capability.
  • Experience presenting financial insight to senior leadership teams.
  • Confidence working with complex datasets, financial systems and reporting tools.
  • A CA, CPA or equivalent qualification is preferred, with energy, utilities, infrastructure or other capital-intensive industry experience viewed favourably.

Bring together financial planning, business performance and continuous improvement in a role with genuine influence on how the finance function evolves.

What We Can Offer You

  • Competitive remuneration with a discretionary performance-based bonus.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Access to our employee discount scheme, offering savings on electricity, natural gas, broadband and mobile services.
  • Employee discount programme (Todd Perks), free eye checks, discounted gym, fuel savings and other services.
  • Generous leave provisions, including 3 days office closure leave and the ability to purchase more leave if needed.
  • Enhanced parental leave for new parents, including top-ups of government parental leave payments for primary carers & additional leave provision for partners.
  • Annual health checks, mole maps, flu vaccinations and mental health support with Clearhead.
  • In-house leadership and development programmes, coaching and mentoring available and support for external studies.
  • Fun Cultural Calendar & social club activities
