What they need

About Us

CARE Philippines is a leading humanitarian and development organization dedicated to fighting poverty and social injustice, with a strong focus on empowering women. As part of the global CARE network, we work alongside communities, partners, and donors to deliver sustainable programs in emergency response, education, health, livelihoods, and climate resilience. We are committed to fostering a world of hope, tolerance, and social justice where poverty has been overcome and people live in dignity and security.

Job Summary

As a Financial Reporting Lead, you will be a key member of the USA Accounting and Reporting Team, supporting critical financial reporting activities for a global organization. You will work across U.S. GAAP financial reporting, statutory compliance, tax-related reporting, and indirect cost rate calculations—while partnering closely with finance teams in the U.S. and CARE’s Shared Services Center (SSC) in Manila.

This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA with strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience who wants to work in a globally connected environment and contribute to an organization with a meaningful humanitarian mission.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare quarterly consolidated financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Prepare monthly financial results for the Board, providing accurate and meaningful financial information for decision-making.
  • Prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations for key judgmental and complex accounting areas.
  • Support PeopleSoft Chart of Accounts (COA) maintenance in partnership with CARE’s SSC Accounting Team.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve accounting issues, including the application of new and emerging U.S. GAAP standards.

Statutory & Regulatory Reporting

  • Prepare schedules supporting CARE’s IRS Form 990 and subsidiary tax filings, coordinating with external tax service providers to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Complete statutory reports required by the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and other government agencies.
  • Provide financial data, analysis, and supporting information for external surveys, rankings, and reporting requirements, including organizations such as Forbes and BBB.

Indirect Cost Rate Calculation & Audit

  • Prepare pro forma and actual Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate Agreement (NICRA) calculations and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and coordinate the submission of CARE’s indirect cost rate calculation to USAID.
  • Coordinate and support USAID audit requests related to the NICRA review and approval process.

Annual State Registrations & Compliance

  • Coordinate the review and submission of fundraising registrations and annual reports across U.S. states.
  • Prepare and submit annual Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) reports to the relevant states.
  • Prepare and submit other regulatory renewals, including tax exemption certificates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification.
  • 4–7 years of experience in GAAP technical accounting research and application.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including new and emerging accounting standards.
  • Proven experience preparing financial statements and financial reporting packages.
  • Experience working with large ERP systems; PeopleSoft experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a public accounting firm such as EY, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, or Grant Thornton is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, particularly for data visualization and reporting.
  • Experience creating advanced analytics, dashboards, or data-driven reports.

CARE participates in the Inter-Agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme. In line with this Scheme, we hereby request information from the candidate’s previous employers about any findings of sexual exploitation, sexual abuse and/or sexual harassment during employment, or incidents under investigation when the candidate left employment. By submitting an application, the job applicant confirms his/her understanding of these recruitment procedures.
