Financial Systems Dir

We are looking for a Financial Systems Director to lead the redesign and long-term strategy of the organization’s finance technology environment in California. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for a senior leader who can combine strong financial systems expertise with practical oversight of ERP architecture, integrations, and process improvement. The person in this role will act as the functional owner for Sage Intacct, working closely with Finance, IT, and Operations leaders to create a more scalable and effective systems landscape.

Responsibilities:

• Direct the reimplementation of Sage Intacct by setting design priorities, establishing configuration standards, coordinating testing activities, and ensuring readiness for deployment.

• Review current finance workflows, approval structures, dimensional reporting, controls, and data models to identify gaps and define improved future-state processes.

• Develop and manage a multi-phase financial systems roadmap that supports immediate business needs while positioning the organization for growth and operational scale.

• Define integration architecture across connected platforms by clarifying data ownership, system-of-record responsibilities, and reliable audit-friendly data movement.

• Translate business objectives into functional system solutions by partnering with Finance, IT, Operations, and external implementation resources.

• Lead and coach finance systems administrators and analysts, providing direction on priorities, documentation practices, testing discipline, and controlled change management.

• Step into advanced system configuration and troubleshooting when complex ERP issues require senior-level functional expertise.

• Support the evolution of the broader finance ecosystem, including connected tools such as Salesforce, Workato, Nexonia, Vena, Asset Edge, and PaymentWorks, as roadmap decisions are finalized.

• At least 5 years of experience working with cloud-based ERP platforms, including direct configuration, enhancement, and optimization responsibilities.

• Proven success leading an ERP implementation, reimplementation, or large-scale redesign initiative.

• Strong knowledge of accounting and finance operations, including workflow design, approvals, dimensional structures, and internal controls.

• Demonstrated ability to define systems strategy and build scalable solutions across an integrated financial application landscape.

• Experience managing or mentoring analysts and administrators while collaborating with senior stakeholders across Finance, IT, and Operations.

• Must reside in an approved local market to support the contract arrangement.

• Deep experience with Sage Intacct is strongly preferred, especially in environments undergoing substantial redesign.

• Additional value will come from experience with nonprofit operations, Salesforce and Workato integrations, or finance automation and AI-enabled tooling.
