About the Position

Doug Holmes Construction is hiring an experienced Finish Blade Operator to join our Amarillo team, primarily working on AI data center construction projects.

Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years of finish blade/motor grader experience and be proficient with GPS machine-control systems. We are looking for a dependable operator who takes pride in accurate finish work, prioritizes safety, and can help keep a crew productive and on schedule.

This position works directly with project management and field superintendents to complete earthwork and finish grading according to project plans, specifications, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a CAT 140M-style motor grader to perform precision grading and finish work.
• Use GPS machine-control systems to achieve and verify required grades, slopes, and elevations.
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, and grade stakes.
• Coordinate daily work with project management, field superintendents, and other equipment operators.
• Lead a crew of approximately 3–5 equipment operators and laborers.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance, and report equipment issues promptly.
• Maintain safe work practices around personnel, equipment, and active construction operations.
• Submit weekly equipment and personnel logs.
• Coordinate required earthwork quality-control testing.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• At least 10 years of finish blade/motor grader operating experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with GPS machine-control systems.
• Ability to complete finish grading to specified tolerances with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
• Valid Texas driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, windy, and dusty conditions.
• Dependability, clear communication, and a strong commitment to safety.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience leading an earthwork crew.
• Experience on large commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
