Finish Grader Operator

Duties

• Operate finish graders along with auxiliary heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, and horizontal drilling machines to achieve accurate grading levels.
• Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and grade stakes to ensure precise surface elevation and slope.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on grader machinery to guarantee optimal performance and safety standards.
• Collaborate with project managers and crew members to coordinate grading activities, paving, and other construction tasks.
• Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues quickly, minimizing downtime on site.
• Assist with other heavy equipment operations like Caterpillar grader operation, bulldozing, or paving as needed to support project timelines.
• Maintain detailed records of work performed, equipment usage, and safety checks throughout each shift.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating grader machinery with a strong understanding of grading techniques and construction site requirements.
• Mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, and horizontal drills.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred for transporting equipment or materials between sites.
• Hands-on experience with Caterpillar or similar heavy equipment brands is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of construction safety protocols and ability to adhere strictly to OSHA standards.
• Ability to operate related machinery including loader operation, backhoe operation, horizontal drilling equipment, and paving machinery.
• Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and coordination on busy construction sites.
