Pay Rate: $18.20
Shift Premium & Attendance Bonus: $19.82

DEPARTMENT:             Finishing

REPORTS TO:              Department Supervisor

FLSA:                           Hourly - Non Exempt     

Job Summary: Flex as needed between various prep positions (see Qualifications) within the Finish Department.

Tools and Equipment used: Motorized equipment, general office supplies, LXE gun, scissors

Drive forklift and cherry pickers

Essential Functions: Perform duties according to ISO 9001 work instructions and standards: for the following jobs: Needlepunch Technician, Biancalani Technician and Finish Machine Material Handler (Job descriptions and work instructions exist for each of these positions)

Biancalani Technician

• • Operate Biancalani Airo Softening Machine according to approved work instructions.  These included lining up fabric to run, sewing fabric together in the proper manner, and doffing the cloth at the exit.
  • Operate the lapping (sewing) machine at the Biancalani.
  • Clean the Biancalani and perform preventive maintenance checks designated by the supervisor on a set schedule (daily or weekly as required).  Keep supervisor advised of problems and quality concerns

Needlepunch Technician

• Sew cloth requiring needlepunch finish together.  Be sure all identifying
  information matches.  Ensure that the fabric tail is on the correct side to enter the machine correctly.
• Set up and operate needlepunch machine following approved work
  Instructions and references
• Maintain assigned equipment.  Clean according to schedule.
• Monitor fabric and equipment to ensure quality at every step of the needle punch process.
• Keep supervisor advised of problems and quality concerns

Other  Requirements:

• Maintain 5 points or less within a 6 month period.
• Output goal for Biancalani Technician  is5530 yards per shift while Needlepunch Technician goal is 4271 yards.  Every effort should be made to meet these goals when performing these jobs.

Safety:

• Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers.
• Maintain 5 S Standards
• Report all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
• Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards.
• PPE Required: Safety belt/harness when using PIT.

Qualifications:

• Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others.
• Must veet all pre-employment requirements.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.  Be able to follow special instructions and directions.
• Forklift license is required for moving buggies and lifting fabric to storage tubes.
• Basic computer skills and use of LXE guns.
• Work Scheduled overtime as needed
