Job Summary
Finishing Tech is a vital role at Jersey Shore Steel, responsible for efficiently managing materials within our manufacturing operation. This position supports our mission to produce high-quality steel products by ensuring smooth materials flow and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Places sheared product in bundles according to customer specifications
• Completes responsibilities listed on the bundler training document
• Inspects bars to ensure quality parts are produced
• Communicates quality issues to lead or supervisor
• Separates non-conforming material in appropriate bins
• Changes machine over to various customer cutting lengths when needed using shim pack system
• Adjusts stacker and/or adding stackers and back stops to next cutting lengths
• Adjusts gage blocks as needed or directed
• Checking cut of blades constantly throughout the day and adjusting when instructed
• Routinely checks top conveyer rolls to make sure bolts are tight
• Routinely checks the gauge block to make sure it is operational
• Shovels out the front cut drop box when needed
• Cleans the light curtains once a day
• Maintains housekeeping for safety and proficiency including the removal of scrap
• Participates in the maintenance and upkeep of the equipment
• Performs a daily checks to ensure all equipment is off and secure at the end of the shift
• Follows safety policies and practices
• Available for overtime and shutdowns per production needs
• Rotates to other finishing end positions including but limited to the shearman and conveyor controlman position

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations.
• Knowledge of products and bundling requirements
• Basic math skills
• Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions
• Able to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Able to climb and lift over 50 pounds
• Able to bend, stand, sit, squat and stoop.

Pay: $21.53 per hour
