FinOps Consultant

Role: FinOps Consultant

Location: London(Hybrid)

Duration: 12-Month Contract

I’m looking for a hands-on FinOps Consultant to join a technology team focused on cloud cost transparency, financial analytics and optimisation. This role sits at the intersection of data analytics, financial modelling and cloud economics, helping business, finance and technology teams make informed decisions about cloud consumption and spend.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse, normalise and reconcile billing and usage data across AWS, Azure, GCP and SaaS providers.
• Develop BI dashboards, self-service reporting and cost analytics to improve financial transparency.
• Identify cloud cost optimisation opportunities and quantify potential savings.
• Build cost allocation, showback and chargeback models for shared services, platforms and SaaS.
• Develop forecasting, budget-to-actual, variance analysis and unit economics models.
• Analyse Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, committed spend agreements and cloud usage commitments.
• Support commercial analysis, vendor negotiations and validation of realised cost savings.
• Develop basic ETL/ELT pipelines and maintain data quality, tagging compliance and reporting accuracy.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Experience in FinOps, data analytics, business intelligence, financial analysis or cloud cost management.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query, Power Pivot, DAX and financial modelling.
• Working knowledge of Python for data manipulation and automation.
• Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, structured datasets and data modelling.
• Understanding of public cloud infrastructure and services across AWS, Azure and/or GCP.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex findings to business and technology stakeholders.

Desirable Experience:

• Cloud billing data, including AWS Cost and Usage Reports, Azure Cost Management exports and GCP BigQuery billing exports.
• FinOps FOCUS, cost allocation, chargeback/showback and cloud cost optimisation tools such as Cloudability or CloudHealth.
• Data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery or Redshift.
• Forecasting, commitment modelling, SaaS cost management or FinOps certifications.
