FinOps Practitioner (Freelance) - Brussels

Contract: 12 months, freelance

Rate: €600/day

Location: On-site in Brussels, up to 5 days per week (may vary during the assignment)

The role

We’re looking for an experienced FinOps Practitioner to lead and coordinate FinOps initiatives across a large Belgian organisation. You’ll be the go-to person for FinOps, bringing finance, engineering and business stakeholders together, with active C-level sponsorship.

What you’ll do

• Monitor, analyse and optimise multi-cloud usage and costs (reserved instances, savings plans, spot, autoscaling, right-sizing)
• Define and enforce governance standards: tagging, cost allocation and budget controls
• Build cloud budgets and forecasts with finance teams, and implement showback/chargeback models
• Produce dashboards and reports for engineering leads and executives, aligned with the FinOps FOCUS specification
• Ensure compliance with Belgian and EU financial and reporting regulations
• Partner with procurement on contracts, enterprise agreements and discounts
• Automate spend monitoring and anomaly detection, and embed FinOps in CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code
• Train and mentor teams on cost-aware design, and drive FinOps awareness and adoption

What you bring

• Minimum 5 years of professional FinOps experience
• Valid FinOps Certified Practitioner and FinOps Certified FOCUS Analyst certifications
• Demonstrable experience in enterprise Cloud, Data Centre, Licensing, IA and SaaS budgeting and forecasting
• Experience with at least two hyperscalers, Azure is mandatory
• Proven track record implementing showback or chargeback models
• English at C1 level
• Willingness to work on-site up to 5 days per week
