What they need
SYREX Group is looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Installation Engineer to join our Fire & Safety division.
We are a small, committed team working across construction, commercial premises and infrastructure. We take pride in reliable delivery, clear communication and looking after our customers. You will work closely with our technical team and help develop the fire installation side of the business.
This role focuses on installing new systems, extensions and upgrades to approved designs. Commissioning experience is welcome, with responsibilities matched to your verified competence.
What you will do
· Install conventional and addressable fire alarm systems to approved drawings, manufacturer instructions and BS 5839-1:2025.
· Install fire-resistant cabling, containment, suitable supports and fixings, with clear identification and neat workmanship.
· Fit and terminate panels, detectors, call points, sounders and interface equipment within your authorised scope.
· Test installation wiring, identify faults and prepare systems for commissioning.
· Complete installation records, marked-up drawings, photographs and progress reports.
· Coordinate with site managers, electricians and commissioning specialists, reporting changes or problems promptly.
What we are looking for
· Proven commercial fire alarm installation experience, including work you have completed independently.
· Practical knowledge of BS 5839-1, installation testing and electrical safety relevant to your work.
· Ability to read drawings, plan cable routes and produce consistent, tidy installations.
· Relevant fire alarm training supported by practical experience.
· Reliability, good communication and the judgement to recognise when specialist support is needed.
· A full driving licence valid in the UK and willingness to travel to sites, with occasional overnight stays by agreement.
Useful additional experience
A relevant regulated Level 3 fire detection and alarm qualification covering BS 5839-1 is strongly desirable. Manufacturer training, an appropriate ECS/CSCS card and IPAF or PASMA training are useful.
Electrical qualifications, commissioning, emergency lighting, CCTV or access control experience would be welcome. Hands-on sprinkler installation or suppression interface experience would also be valuable, with duties matched to your competence.

Apply through Indeed with your CV and a brief summary of fire alarm installations you have personally completed. Please include your qualifications and any sprinkler or suppression experience.
Pay: £35,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
