Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fire Alarm Programmer / Installer to join our team. This position is responsible for installing, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Honeywell / Silent Knight fire alarm systems in commercial buildings.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Honeywell / Silent Knight fire alarm control panels, programming software, system configuration, and field installation. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of commercial construction projects, collaborate with construction and engineering teams, and ensure fire alarm systems operate in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

The successful candidate will be dependable, technically skilled, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team in construction and field service environments.

Duties

• Install, program, configure, and service Honeywell / Silent Knight fire alarm control panels and associated devices.
• Program fire alarm systems using applicable manufacturer-specific software and tools.
• Install and terminate fire alarm wiring, detectors, notification appliances, modules, power supplies, and other system components.
• Perform system testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and verification to ensure proper operation.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, riser diagrams, and construction documents to complete installations accurately.
• Diagnose system faults, wiring issues, communication problems, and programming errors.
• Verify that fire alarm systems meet project specifications, applicable fire codes, and inspection requirements.
• Learn and apply applicable requirements of NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), the International Building Code (IBC), the California Building Code (CBC), the California Fire Code (CFC), and local jurisdiction requirements.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, general contractors, electricians, inspectors, and other trades to resolve installation and system-related issues.
• Assist with fire alarm and sprinkler system integration, including monitoring connections and related interfaces.
• Maintain accurate documentation of system programming, device configurations, testing results, troubleshooting, and service activities.
• Support inspections, system acceptance testing, and project closeout documentation.
• Provide technical support and communicate system operation, maintenance requirements, and troubleshooting findings to customers.
• Follow established safety procedures and maintain organized tools, equipment, and work areas.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience installing, programming, and troubleshooting Honeywell / Silent Knight fire alarm systems is required.
• Familiarity with Silent Knight fire alarm control panels and associated programming software.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, riser diagrams, and construction documents.
• Working knowledge of fire alarm wiring, initiating devices, notification appliances, modules, and power supplies.
• Understanding of fire alarm system programming, device addressing, system configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), applicable California building and fire codes, and local regulations.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and other electrical testing equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work professionally with customers, contractors, and team members.
• Ability to work independently on commercial job sites while maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites, if required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multiple Honeywell / Silent Knight fire alarm control panel models and their associated programming tools.
• Experience performing fire alarm system startup, commissioning, acceptance testing, and inspections.
• Knowledge of fire sprinkler monitoring and integration with fire alarm systems.
• NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems or an interest in obtaining certification.
• Relevant manufacturer training, electrical certifications, or fire alarm industry credentials.
• Experience with other low-voltage systems, such as access control, security, or communications systems.

Compensation

Pay will be dependent on the candidate's experience, technical knowledge, certifications, and skill level.
