Fire Alarm Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking highly motivated individuals proficient in fire alarm installation, inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Candidates should have a strong background in fire alarm and life safety systems, with the ability to ensure systems are installed, tested, and maintained in compliance with applicable fire codes, industry standards, and manufacturer specifications.

Fire Alarm Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fire alarm systems in commercial and residential buildings.
• Install and terminate fire alarm devices, including smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, notification appliances, and control panels.
• Install and troubleshoot fire alarm wiring, circuits, and related components.
• Perform system testing and inspections to verify proper operation and code compliance.
• Identify system deficiencies and perform necessary repairs or recommend corrective actions.
• Assist with system programming, panel configuration, and commissioning as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documents.
• Ensure compliance with applicable NFPA standards, local fire codes, and manufacturer requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment on job sites.
• Maintain accurate records, complete inspection reports, and document all work performed.
• Communicate system issues, deficiencies, and project updates to supervisors and customers professionally.

Requirements and Certifications

• Valid driver's license.
• Clean driving record (7-year DMV report required).
• Reliable transportation.
• Professional manners and communication skills.
• Willingness to work 40 hours per week, with the possibility of overtime.
• Clean criminal history; no felonies (based on Nevada State Fire Marshal requirements).
• Ability to lift 50–80 lbs independently.
• OSHA 10.
• OSHA 30.
• Nevada State Fire Marshal fire alarm installer certification appropriate to the work performed.

Beneficial but Not Required

• NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
• High Reach Certification.
• Forklift Certification.
• Scissor-Lift Certification.
• Manufacturer-specific fire alarm system training and certifications.

Experience and Qualifications

• Experience in fire alarm installation, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, and applicable local fire codes.
• Familiarity with fire alarm control panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, and related life safety equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documents.
• Proficient in using power tools, hand tools, and electrical testing equipment.
• Basic math skills for accurate measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with construction site procedures, safety requirements, and job site coordination.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to providing quality workmanship and professional customer service.

Pay: $22.34 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
