What they need

Job Summary

Fire and Security Service Engineer - Dorset

Engineers – Every other job advert you read will have the same AI generated format with no information about what you really want to know about the role, benefits and company. So, let’s starts with that.

The Company

What is it like to work at Pathway? Well, I would be lying if I said every day was a dream day as it's natural for customers to not be in, the drill to stop working or a call out to come in at 4:50 on a Friday. But the company is built on being the best – not the biggest – the best. We want each job completed to be done thoroughly and to the best standard, no corners cut. We would rather you spent a little extra time getting the job complete then have to revisit it, even if that means heading over to the wholesalers to grab a part. We take pride in knowing each engineer, getting the team together and creating an environment where engineers want to work.

What’s the team like? 6 engineers and growing, each person has a different skill set, personality and way of working but everyone works as a team. That means that fly by visits from engineers to each other for technical support or that crucial coffee on a Friday are common. It’s a friendly team where a sense of humour is needed but everyone pulls together to overcome obstacles together.

***I have never heard of them, are the new to town?***No, Pathway has been established since 2015 and have some long-standing customers throughout that time.

The Role

***What work will I be doing?***Truth be told a bit of everything. The role is varied and it can range from door entry call outs, fire alarm servicing to fault finding an access control system.

Where will I be Working? Most of your time will be spent in an around Bournemouth and Poole, but there will be need to on occasion travel to other areas further afield.

How often will I be on Call? Currently never – all call outs are handled by the management team as they are so infrequent, but it is something that may be introduced at some stage in the next 12 months. We do offer the chance to attend call outs as they come in but that also is rare.

No on call? How can I earn a bit extra when I need? Overtime – For productive engineers there is opportunity to work weekends and evenings on occasions. There are enormous amounts of work available so if you want to help us get through it and you want the extra income it will be perfect match.

Is training available? In short yes – in the last three months we have had 4 training days for engineers delivered by manufactures and there is much more planned. We know not every engineer knows everything, so we fill the gaps through training.

Will I have everything I need to do the Job? This is normally listed under benefits for a lot of adverts. But yes, you will have a van, smoke testing kit and tools. The great thing about working here, if you need anything to do your job, we get it. So, if you end up needing a different tool, there is no long procurement process, it’s a phone call instead. All we ask is you supply your own hand tools.

The Benefits

Benefits are more than just salary; they are how working here betters your life or impacts it.

Working at Pathway has a casual (yet professional) atmosphere where the lack of pressure gives you the freedom to enjoy the job. There aren’t endless calls asking if your done and asking more and more of you.

Training and development have never been more proactive and realistic. All the management team started as engineers at Pathway and training is not solely focused on what we need you to do but also what will develop you for where you want to be later.

Salary – we have a wide bracket of what we pay but we will pay what is needed to get the right candidate on board. So rather than putting a bracket on here and put off the perfect candidate we are open to getting the right candidate the right package. We are looking for 2 engineers currently, so if you feel you could work towards what we are looking for, please do apply.
