Fire Protection Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Mechanical and Fire Protection Engineer who will handle the design and build requirements of mechanical and fire protection projects.

The successful candidate will prepare designs, technical proposals, estimates, and project requirements during the pre-award stage. Once a project is awarded, the engineer may serve as the Project Head and oversee the project’s site engineers, manpower, subcontractors, materials, schedule, quality, safety, testing, and turnover.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign and Pre-Construction

• Prepare mechanical and fire protection system designs.
• Develop plans, layouts, calculations, specifications, and bills of quantities.
• Conduct site inspections, surveys, and technical assessments.
• Prepare quantity take-offs, cost estimates, technical proposals, and material requirements.
• Review bid documents, drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
• Recommend practical and cost-effective design-and-build solutions.
• Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, electrical, FDAS, plumbing, and other building systems.
• Assist in client presentations, technical meetings, and tender clarifications.

Project Execution

• Act as Project Head for awarded projects when assigned.
• Plan and manage the project schedule, manpower, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and site activities.
• Supervise and provide technical direction to assigned site engineers and project personnel.
• Ensure that installations comply with approved plans, specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards.
• Monitor project costs, accomplishments, delays, variations, and material usage.
• Attend coordination meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and requests for information.
• Manage testing, commissioning, inspections, punch listing, and project turnover.
• Prepare progress reports, billing support documents, as-built drawings, and closeout documents.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and project-site requirements.

• Water storage and fire protection piping
• Clean-agent or special fire suppression systems, when applicable
• Ventilation and exhaust systems
• Air-conditioning and other mechanical systems
• Other related mechanical and fire protection works

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Preferably a Registered Mechanical Engineer.
• Experience in mechanical and fire protection design, estimation, installation, or project management is preferred.
• Knowledge of the Philippine Fire Code, Mechanical Code, NFPA standards, and applicable regulations.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; familiarity with other engineering design software is an advantage.
• Able to prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations, estimates, and technical documents.
• Capable of leading site engineers, workers, and subcontractors.
• Strong planning, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Willing to conduct site inspections and accept assignments at different project locations.

Preferred Experience

• Design-and-build project experience.
• Hydraulic calculations and fire pump sizing.
• Mechanical system design and equipment selection.
• Coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection and other regulatory authorities.
• Testing, commissioning, and project turnover.
• Cost estimation, tender preparation, and value engineering.

Pay: From Php28,000.00 per month
