Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and implementing fire protection systems across a variety of industrial, commercial, and manufacturing projects. Your expertise will ensure that buildings and facilities meet all relevant fire safety codes and standards, while integrating advanced systems to safeguard personnel and assets. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead system design initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvement in fire safety solutions. Duties
- Develop comprehensive fire protection system designs using CAD software such as AutoCAD and Revit, incorporating building information modeling (BIM) tools for accurate visualization.
- Conduct building code analysis to ensure compliance with local, national, and international fire safety standards.
- Perform risk assessments and root cause analysis to identify vulnerabilities in existing fire protection systems and recommend effective improvements.
- Lead project scheduling efforts to coordinate design phases, installation timelines, and testing procedures across multiple projects.
- Collaborate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to integrate fire protection systems seamlessly into overall building infrastructure.
- Utilize scripting languages like Python or MATLAB for data analysis, system simulation, or automation of design processes.
- Oversee the design of mechanical systems related to fire suppression, including sprinkler systems, gas suppression systems, and fire alarm controls.
- Conduct system troubleshooting during installation and commissioning phases to ensure optimal performance of fire protection solutions.
- Prepare detailed schematics, technical drawings, and schematics that adhere to GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for manufacturing and construction teams.
- Lead cross-functional communication efforts to coordinate project progress, technical challenges, and regulatory compliance updates with stakeholders.
Experience
- Proven experience practicing in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role with a focus on fire protection or related mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
- Strong background in mechanical engineering principles applied to fire suppression system design and building code compliance.
- Hands-on experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks; familiarity with 3D modeling for product design is a plus.
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), data collection techniques, and system troubleshooting within complex engineering environments.
- Experience working on construction projects involving fire safety systems from initial design through installation and testing phases.
- Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) tools for integrated project delivery in construction settings.
- Excellent analytical skills for conducting root cause analysis and research related to fire safety issues or failures.
- Ability to interpret schematics, technical drawings, and laboratory test results related to fire protection components.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams across engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering.
