What they need

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, helps customers use energy more productively, reduce carbon emissions, and operate with the precision and resilience required in rapidly expanding industries such as data centers, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, and higher education.

For more than 140 years, Johnson Controls has delivered performance where it really matters. Backed by advanced technology, lifecycle services and an industry-leading field organization, we elevate customer performance, turn goals into real-world results and help move society forward.

Johnson Controls is seeking a Fire Protection Project Development Specialist in Costa Rica to support the development of fire protection opportunities and translate customer needs into practical project solutions. In this role, you will work across sales, engineering, operations, and field teams to help move projects from initial scope through proposal and handoff.

Role Overview

This role focuses on developing clear, accurate, and timely fire protection project packages. You will gather technical and commercial inputs, help define scope, support proposal preparation, and keep internal stakeholders aligned so customer requests can move forward with confidence and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of fire protection project opportunities from early qualification through proposal and handoff.
  • Gather customer requirements, site information, and technical inputs needed to define project scope.
  • Prepare and review proposals, scopes of work, and supporting documentation for fire protection solutions.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and field teams to align deliverables, timelines, and execution details.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and customer requests to identify gaps, risks, and clarification needs.
  • Support project planning by confirming material needs, labor assumptions, and execution constraints.
  • Follow up on outstanding actions to keep opportunities and project packages moving.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and communication throughout the development process.
  • Help resolve technical questions and support timely responses to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in estimating, handoff, and project development practices.

How You Will Do It

  • You will own your commitments with safety, integrity, and accountability, making sure details are clear before work moves forward.
  • You will stay close to the customer and the project facts, asking the right questions early and removing obstacles quickly.
  • You will use facts, candor, and practical problem solving to improve scopes, estimates, and handoffs.
  • You will improve every day through disciplined follow-up and continuous learning, bringing lessons from each project into the next one.
  • You will win as one team by building trust across sales, engineering, operations, and the field.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Business, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting fire protection, fire alarm, sprinkler, suppression, or related technical project development work.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, scope documents, and customer requirements.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work across multiple teams.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities and follow-up actions.
  • Working knowledge of project development, estimating, or proposal preparation processes.
  • Ability to document work accurately and support timely decision-making.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting customer-facing technical proposals or project handoff.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment with sales, engineering, and field teams.

Why Join Us

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to fire protection projects that matter to customers and end users. You will work in a collaborative environment where safety, service, and practical problem solving are valued, and where strong coordination helps projects move smoothly from development to execution.

If you are ready to help develop fire protection solutions in Costa Rica, we invite you to apply.
