Fire Systems Designer

SRD Fire Protection is looking for an experienced Fire Systems Designer to join our team in Pakenham.

This is an excellent opportunity for a designer with solid fire protection experience who wants to work on a diverse range of projects, take ownership of their designs and develop their career within a specialist fire protection business.

You'll work closely with our project managers, clients, builders, and installation teams to develop practical, compliant and buildable fire protection solutions.

About the role

As a Fire Systems Designer, you will be responsible for the design and documentation of fire protection systems across a variety of projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing fire sprinkler, hydrant, hose reel, fire detection, and occupant warning systems
• Producing detailed AutoCAD & Revit drawings
• Preparing hydraulic calculations using HYENA+
• Preparing fabrication sheets and material lists
• Coordinating designs with other building services
• Identifying and resolving design and coordination issues
• Preparing equipment schedules and design documentation
• Working with project managers, builders, consultants and installation teams
• Providing technical support throughout the construction process
• Reviewing designs for compliance, constructability and practicality
• Attending site inspections and coordination meetings when required
• Contributing to the continual improvement of our design processes and standards

About you

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, detail-oriented and takes pride in producing quality work.

You will ideally have:

• Experience designing fire sprinkler and/or hydrant systems
• A strong understanding of Australian fire protection standards, including AS2118.1, AS2118.6, AS2419.1, and AS1670
• An understanding of the NCC requirements
• Strong AutoCAD skills
• Experience with HYENA+ hydraulic calculations
• Experience with Revit would be advantageous
• The ability to interpret architectural, structural and engineering drawings
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication and coordination skills
• The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• A practical approach to solving design problems

Experience with FPAS accreditation will be highly regarded, but is not essential.

• $110,000 – $160,000 + super, depending on experience
• Full-time position based in Pakenham, Victoria
• Standard working hours of 7:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, with 30-minute lunch break
