ABOUT THE ROLE                                                                              

We're hiring a Fire Systems Technician Apprentice for an entry-level technical position that provides training and experience in fire alarm systems, kitchen and special hazard fire suppression systems, sprinkler systems, portable fire extinguishers, and more. The duties of this position will be discussed during any potential interview(s).

WHAT YOU'LL DO

                                                                                        

• Train on fire alarm systems
• Train on kitchen and special hazard fire suppression systems
• Train on sprinkler systems
• Train on portable fire extinguishers and more
• Perform all work in accordance with NFPA 10, 17, 17A, and 96
• Juggle multiple tasks to maintain production deadlines
• Take on other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

                                                                                        

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Good electrical and/or mechanical aptitude (a plus)
• Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
• Problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and to work with a team
• Attention to detail
• Ability to comply with Getz Fire Equipment’s drug and alcohol policy, including abstaining from marijuana, as this is a safety-sensitive position. A post-employment physical and drug test are required.

SCHEDULE & TRAINING

                                                                                        

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, typically between the hours of 7 and 5. In some instances, overnight work will be required as needed. Training is provided on all equipment. This is an entry-level position with a starting pay range of $17–$19/hr., with potential opportunities for growth within the company within the first three to six months.

Paid Time Off — 10 days of PTO in your first year, growing with tenure to 20 days at 20 years of service (includes Illinois Paid Leave).

Paid Holidays — Eight paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas.
