Job Summary

Trouble Defense LLC, a veteran-owned firearm safety and training company, is seeking a knowledgeable, dependable, and personable Firearms Instructor to join our team.

Our mission is to help people build confidence through safe, responsible firearm education. You will lead classroom and range instruction for students with different backgrounds, abilities, and experience levels—from first-time shooters to experienced firearm owners.

The ideal instructor puts safety first, teaches with patience, and makes students feel welcome and respected. Assignments may include private lessons, group classes, concealed carry courses, corporate events, and age-appropriate youth firearm safety programs, based on your qualifications and program needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver clear, engaging instruction in firearm safety, responsible ownership, safe handling, and marksmanship fundamentals.
• Lead classroom and supervised range sessions that follow Trouble Defense’s curriculum, safety standards, and facility rules.
• Adjust your teaching approach to each student’s experience, comfort level, and learning needs.
• Establish clear safety expectations, closely supervise students, and immediately address unsafe behavior.
• Assess student understanding and practical skills, providing constructive feedback without intimidation or judgment.
• Help prepare and update lesson plans, presentations, training materials, and student evaluations.
• Coordinate with fellow instructors and program staff to prepare equipment, organize classes, and maintain accurate training records.
• Support a professional, welcoming environment for women, beginners, and students with disabilities or other accommodation needs.
• Represent Trouble Defense professionally when working with students, families, community organizations, and business clients.

Required Qualifications

• Current NRA, USCCA, or comparable recognized firearms instructor certification appropriate to the courses taught.
• Demonstrated knowledge of firearm safety and experience supervising safe firearm handling.
• Strong communication, classroom management, and group supervision skills.
• Ability to explain concepts clearly and coach students with patience and respect.
• Sound judgment and willingness to pause or stop training whenever safety requires it.
• Dependability, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively.
• Willingness to follow Trouble Defense’s instructional standards and teach within the scope of your credentials.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching private lessons, beginner classes, or concealed carry courses.
• Range Safety Officer certification.
• Current CPR, first aid, AED, or Stop the Bleed training.
• Experience with youth safety education, adaptive instruction, corporate groups, or community outreach.
• Military, law enforcement, security, coaching, or adult education experience.

Pay: $26.71 - $35.00 per hour
