Firmware Engineer (Embedded C / RTOS / Microcontroller)

Job Overview

We are looking for experienced and motivated Firmware Engineers to join our engineering team. The successful candidates will be responsible for developing, testing, debugging, and validating embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systems, with opportunities to work on power control and embedded system applications.

This role is suitable for engineers with strong hands-on experience in Embedded C, bare-metal programming, RTOS, microcontrollers, firmware debugging, and hardware interfacing. Experience in power electronics, digital power control, or converter simulation will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and debug embedded firmware using Embedded C.
• Develop firmware for bare-metal and RTOS-based systems.
• Design and implement startup code, interrupt service routines (ISR), and firmware components.
• Develop and maintain device drivers for microcontroller peripherals.
• Work with ARM Cortex and/or RISC-V microcontroller architectures.
• Interface and develop firmware for peripherals such as GPIO, Timer, PWM, ADC, I²C, SPI, and UART.
• Implement and troubleshoot RTOS-based applications involving tasks/threads, scheduling, mutexes/semaphores, queues, and timers.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, firmware validation, and debugging.
• Use debugging and test equipment such as JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• Participate in firmware development using Git and CI/CD workflows.
• Support firmware security features such as Secure Boot, cryptography, key management, and OTA updates, where applicable.
• Collaborate closely with hardware, validation, and other engineering teams to troubleshoot system-level issues.
• Support project execution and provide technical assistance during project tapeout, including occasional overtime when required.

Power Control – Added Advantage

Candidates with experience in power control or power electronics will be highly preferred.

Relevant experience includes:

• Understanding of DC-DC power converter topologies.
• Knowledge of digital controller design and power control concepts.
• Experience modeling and simulating power converters using MATLAB/Simulink or PLECS.
• Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and real-time simulation.
• Experience validating embedded control systems and power converter performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience in firmware/embedded systems development.
• Strong programming skills in Embedded C.
• Hands-on experience with bare-metal firmware and/or RTOS.
• Experience working with ARM Cortex and/or RISC-V microcontrollers.
• Good understanding of embedded hardware, peripherals, and firmware driver development.
• Experience with firmware testing, debugging, and validation.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD development workflows.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good command of spoken and written English.
• Able to work independently as well as collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred / Added Skills

• Experience in power management or digital power control firmware.
• Knowledge of DC-DC converters and power electronics.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or PLECS.
• Experience with HIL testing.
• Knowledge of embedded security, Secure Boot, cryptography, and OTA updates.
• Experience working in a product development environment involving project tapeout.
