Firmware Engineering Manager

My client is a fast-growing sustainability technology company transforming how food waste is managed through innovative connected products and smart infrastructure. With a rapidly expanding product portfolio and ambitious growth plans, they are seeking a Firmware Engineering Manager to lead the development of next-generation connected devices while remaining hands-on in technical work.

What You'll Do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of firmware engineers while contributing directly to architecture, design, and development.
• Develop embedded firmware for connected products, including wireless connectivity, OTA updates, sensor integration, and data communication.
• Collaborate with hardware, mobile, cloud, and product teams to deliver high-quality customer experience.
• Drive debugging, testing, code reviews, performance optimization, and production readiness.
• Help shape technical roadmaps, engineering best practices, and future hiring efforts.

Must Have Skills

• 5+ years of embedded systems development experience.
• Strong expertise in embedded C, networking fundamentals, RTOS concepts, and hardware-software integration.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or guiding engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience with debugging tools and embedded development workflows.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across disciplines.

Bonus Skills

• Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and FreeRTOS.
• ESP32 microcontrollers and/or Jetson platforms.
• MQTT, AWS, and cellular connectivity technologies.

Compensation: Base salary range of $245,000-$280,000 , plus benefits and potential equity.
