About the Company
A fast-moving, early-stage startup in the Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) field, building novel medical devices at the intersection of advanced hardware engineering and artificial intelligence. Its mission is to give people living with disabilities back their independence and improve their quality of life.

Because the company is at an early stage, you'll have the chance to own wide-ranging decisions with meaningful, lasting impact. The team places a strong emphasis on ongoing learning, career development, and working across disciplines, and every person's contribution is essential to the company's success.
About the Role
As Firmware Test Engineer, you'll be in charge of building end-to-end test strategies, sophisticated test setups, and automated validation frameworks for medical devices. You'll be central to making sure embedded systems are reliable, safe, and high-performing, by building solid test infrastructure and partnering closely with cross-functional engineering teams across the entire product development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Develop a clear understanding of product requirements, design inputs, and system architecture, and turn them into firmware test requirements.
- Design and build unit, integration, and system-level tests for medical devices.
- Define the structure of verification and validation (V&V) processes and carry them out.
- Write automated Python test scripts to validate firmware and hardware.
- Work closely with electrical, hardware, and software engineers to achieve thorough test coverage.
- Produce documentation that explains test architectures and methodologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Solid knowledge of medical device development, including V&V, design controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- 5+ years of experience executing V&V, performing script-driven firmware testing, and building automated tests.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across time zones, showing critical thinking and technical leadership.
Required Skills
- Experience creating and carrying out V&V test plans in line with FDA requirements for medical device development.
- Advanced proficiency in Python.
- Experience building Python-based automated test frameworks for embedded firmware.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test setups and their automation.
- Experience applying CI/CD processes to test automation and software releases.
- Experience working with Linux-based test rigs.
- Proficiency in Git for version control.
- Hands-on use of lab equipment such as digital multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Strong debugging ability across hardware, firmware, and software layers.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with I2C, SPI, UART, and other communication protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret PCB schematics.
- Experience with IoT devices.
