What they need
We’re seeking a confident, compassionate and reliable First Aider to provide prompt, professional care and occupational health support to our people on night shift at the Mataura Plant.
About us
At Alliance Group, we're more than a global supplier of exceptional grass-fed lamb, beef, and venison. We're a purpose-driven business committed to driving prosperity for our farming families and creating thriving environments for our people. With sites across the North and South Islands, we're focused on performance improvement, innovation, and reducing our environmental impact.
Alliance Group has an exciting opportunity for a First Aider to join our Health & Safety team and support the Mataura Plant Medical Centre. Reporting to the Plant Health and Safety Manager, you will deliver safe, high-quality first-response care, help coordinate ongoing treatment and return-to-work support, and contribute to occupational health initiatives across the site. This is a night shift position in a dynamic production environment.
Your key responsibilities will include:
· Providing triage, comprehensive first aid treatment and an effective response to onsite emergencies
· Escalating for professional medical assistance when required and supporting employees’ recovery
· Accurately documenting incidents, treatment, investigations, ACC information and other required records
· Following up employees on light duties, sick leave or return-to-work plans in liaison with health professionals
· Supporting the onsite doctor, occupational health nurse and physiotherapist, including appointments, room preparation and follow-up care
· Completing pre-employment medical checks, health screening, and workplace drug and alcohol testing as required
· Checking and restocking medical supplies and completing scheduled inspections of equipment
· Championing safe work practices, Alliance values and positive change across the plant
About you
You will hold current first aid training and bring advanced first aid capability, sound knowledge of health and safety compliance, and ideally previous experience in a health, manufacturing or production environment. Higher-level medical care education or Pre-Hospital Emergency Care training would be an advantage. You will also have intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and be comfortable maintaining accurate records and documentation.
Just as importantly, you will be trustworthy, reliable and approachable, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will be a self-starter who can work calmly and independently while contributing positively to a team. Your compassionate and professional manner will help you build strong relationships and provide care without prejudice in a busy and sometimes unpredictable environment.
