What they need

Position Overview

The Head Coach at SWET is responsible for leading the coaching team and owning the overall quality, consistency, and development of the SWET training experience.

This is a leadership role responsible for ensuring every coach delivers the SWET experience at a high level while continuously developing the coaching team, strengthening member engagement, and improving the overall fitness product.

The Head Coach works closely with the Studio Manager as a key member of studio leadership. While the Studio Manager owns the overall business performance of the studio, the Head Coach owns the coaching team and fitness experience.

Success in this role is not measured solely by the Head Coach’s ability to coach great classes. It is measured by the strength of the entire coaching team, the consistency of the member experience, and the continued development of SWET’s fitness product.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Head Coach creates a studio where:

  • Members consistently receive a high-quality SWET experience regardless of which coach is leading the class.
  • Coaches understand SWET standards, receive regular feedback, and continue developing their skills.
  • Coaching expectations are clear and accountability is consistent.
  • Classes are energetic, safe, challenging, engaging, and professionally delivered.
  • Members feel known, supported, motivated, and connected to the coaching team.
  • The coaching team contributes to member engagement, workout consistency, referrals, and retention.
  • Coaching performance and class trends are actively evaluated and improved.
  • The fitness product continues to evolve while maintaining the standards and identity of SWET.
  • The Studio Manager has a trusted leadership partner who fully owns the coaching side of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Coaching Leadership & Class Quality

Own the overall quality and consistency of the SWET coaching experience.

  • Set and uphold SWET coaching standards across the entire coaching team.
  • Ensure classes consistently reflect the energy, professionalism, intensity, safety, and member experience expected from the SWET brand.
  • Regularly observe and evaluate coaching performance.
  • Identify coaching strengths, opportunities, and performance gaps.
  • Provide clear and actionable feedback that helps coaches continuously improve.
  • Hold coaches accountable when performance or professional standards are not being met.
  • Lead by example through professionalism, preparation, communication, and execution.
  • Coach a regular class schedule while maintaining leadership responsibilities outside of class.

Coach Development & Team Performance

Build and develop a strong, reliable, and high-performing coaching team.

  • Support the recruitment, evaluation, and selection of coaching candidates.
  • Lead the onboarding, training, and development of new coaches.
  • Ensure coaches are prepared and meet SWET standards before independently leading classes.
  • Create an environment where coaching development is ongoing rather than limited to initial training.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen individual coaches and the coaching team as a whole.
  • Conduct ongoing coach evaluations, feedback conversations, and development discussions.
  • Develop future leaders within the coaching team.
  • Address performance concerns quickly, directly, and professionally.
  • Help create a coaching culture built around accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and high standards.

Member Experience & Engagement

Ensure the coaching team plays an active role in creating strong member relationships and keeping members engaged with SWET.

  • Establish expectations for coaches to know, recognize, and engage members.
  • Ensure members receive meaningful coaching, encouragement, attention, and support during every class.
  • Help create an environment where members feel welcomed, challenged, recognized, and connected.
  • Support initiatives designed to improve member workout consistency and engagement.
  • Identify opportunities for the coaching team to reconnect with members whose attendance has declined.
  • Encourage coaches to recognize member milestones, progress, and accomplishments.
  • Partner with the Studio Manager on member retention and engagement initiatives.
  • Help create member experiences that generate loyalty, referrals, and positive word of mouth.

Fitness Product & Programming

Protect and continuously improve the quality of SWET’s fitness product.

  • Ensure workouts are delivered consistently with SWET programming standards.
  • Evaluate member experience, class performance, coaching feedback, and programming trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure classes remain challenging, engaging, safe, and appropriate for a wide range of fitness levels.
  • Maintain consistency in how movements, modifications, progressions, and coaching expectations are communicated.
  • Provide leadership feedback on programming and the evolution of the SWET training experience.
  • Ensure equipment and training spaces support a safe and premium fitness experience.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends while protecting what makes the SWET training experience unique.

Studio Leadership

Serve as a leader within the studio and a trusted partner to the Studio Manager.

  • Work closely with the Studio Manager to support studio goals and overall performance.
  • Take ownership of coaching-related issues rather than waiting for the Studio Manager to solve them.
  • Bring coaching opportunities, concerns, and solutions to studio leadership.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, planning, and studio initiatives as required.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with the Studio Manager and coaching team.
  • Help create alignment between the coaching team, front desk team, and studio leadership.
  • Support major studio initiatives, challenges, events, launches, and community efforts.
  • Make decisions with the overall success of SWET in mind rather than focusing only on the coaching department.

Community & Brand Leadership

Represent SWET as a leader both inside and outside of the studio.

  • Serve as a positive example of the SWET brand and culture.
  • Build relationships with members beyond the class experience.
  • Support studio events, community activations, challenges, and special initiatives.
  • Encourage coaches to actively participate in the SWET community.
  • Help create opportunities for member referrals and organic brand awareness.
  • Maintain a professional presence and represent SWET appropriately in the studio, within the community, and online.

Operational Standards

Ensure the coaching environment remains professional, organized, safe, and prepared.

  • Maintain high standards for training-floor cleanliness, organization, and equipment.
  • Identify and communicate equipment maintenance or replacement needs.
  • Ensure coaches follow required opening, closing, safety, and operational expectations associated with the training experience.
  • Maintain accurate coaching-related communication, evaluations, and reporting.
  • Support scheduling and coaching coverage needs as required.
  • Ensure operational issues that impact the member training experience are addressed quickly.

Leadership Expectations

The Head Coach is expected to operate as an owner of their department, not simply as someone completing assigned tasks.

The individual in this role should:

  • Identify problems before they become larger issues.
  • Bring solutions rather than only bringing problems.
  • Hold themselves and others accountable to SWET standards.
  • Communicate directly and professionally.
  • Be willing to have difficult conversations when necessary.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve the coaching team and member experience.
  • Understand the business impact of coaching decisions.
  • Take responsibility for results within their area of ownership.
  • Lead consistently whether leadership is present or not.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal Head Coach:

  • Has previous experience as a fitness coach, group fitness instructor, personal trainer, or similar fitness professional.
  • Has demonstrated the ability to coach and motivate individuals across a wide range of fitness levels.
  • Possesses strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Is comfortable providing feedback and holding others accountable.
  • Has the ability to develop and lead a team rather than focusing solely on individual performance.
  • Is highly organized and capable of managing coaching responsibilities alongside leadership responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, and strong judgment.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • Has a genuine interest in developing people and building a strong coaching culture.
  • Understands that delivering an exceptional member experience is equally as important as delivering an exceptional workout.

Current nationally recognized fitness certification and CPR/AED certification are required or must be obtained within the timeframe established by SWET.

The Head Coach position requires flexibility based on the needs of the studio and coaching team.

Availability may include:

  • Early mornings
