Fitter

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fitter to join our manufacturing team.

The Fitter is responsible for accurately fitting, aligning, and assembling fabricated metal components according to blueprints, drawings, and specifications prior to welding or final assembly. This role is critical to ensuring product quality, safety, and on-time production in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and work instructions
• Measure, cut, align, and fit metal components using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices
• Prepare materials for welding, including tack welding when qualified
• Verify dimensions, tolerances, and alignment prior to final welding or assembly
• Use jigs, fixtures, clamps, and layout tools to ensure proper fit
• Identify and report material defects, dimensional issues, or process concerns
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards
• Work collaboratively with welders, supervisors, and quality personnel
• Meet production schedules while maintaining quality standards
• Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum 2 years experience as a fitter in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong knowledge of measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares, levels)
• Familiarity with metal fabrication processes and shop safety practices
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and quality
