About the role

DGH is seeking an experienced Fitter to join our team in Townsville, QLD. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work with a dynamic organisation in the Trades & Services sector. As a Fitter, you will play a crucial role in the assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery. This position is essential to ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and the delivery of high-quality services to our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Assembling, installing and commissioning mechanical equipment and machinery components according to specifications and engineering drawings
• Performing routine maintenance, inspections and preventative servicing to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical faults, identifying root causes and implementing effective repairs
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and work instructions accurately
• Using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instruments with proficiency and safety awareness
• Ensuring all work is completed to the required quality standards and within specified timelines
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations
• Collaborating with other team members and supervisors to ensure efficient project completion
• Keeping detailed records of work completed and reporting any issues or concerns promptly

What we're looking for

• Trade qualification in fitting or equivalent demonstrated competency through experience
• Proven experience in fitting, mechanical assembly or a related trade discipline
• Strong proficiency with hand tools, power tools and precision measuring equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and work instructions
• Sound knowledge of mechanical principles, tolerances and fitting practices
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Reliable, safety-conscious and capable of working independently or as part of a team
• Physical capability to perform the demands of the role, including lifting and working at varying heights
• Current or willingness to obtain relevant certifications and licences as required
