Fixed-Term Hotel Receptionist – Summer Season

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and positive Hotel Receptionist to join our team at Southwark Hotel & Apartments for our busy summer season.

This is a five-month fixed-term position starting now, with a minimum of 16 hours per week. Most weeks, there is likely to be up to 32 hours available, depending on occupancy and business requirements.

This role may suit a university student looking for regular work over the summer period.

About the role

This is a varied reception position covering all shifts across our 24-hour operation, including overnight shifts from 11:00pm–7:00am, weekends and public holidays.

Flexibility is important, as your roster will include a mixture of shifts depending on the needs of the hotel.

About you

Previous hotel or accommodation experience is strongly preferred, and some understanding of how a hotel operates is important.

However, we're also happy to provide training to the right person. If you turn up with a happy, positive attitude, are willing to learn and have some idea of how a hotel works, we'll happily teach you the rest!

You will also need:

• Excellent spoken and written English
• Strong computer skills and confidence learning new systems
• A friendly, welcoming and professional manner
• The ability to remain calm and work well under pressure
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• A high level of honesty, reliability and personal responsibility
• Confidence working independently, including during overnight shifts
• Flexibility around your roster and a willingness to help the team when required

Experience with MEWS or another hotel PMS would be a definite advantage, but training can be provided.

Important

This position is fixed term for five months to cover our busy summer period.

Applicants must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand for the full five-month period.
