Hagar Enterprises Has an Immediate Opening for a Traffic Flagger

Hagar Enterprises is a busy, family-owned paving and excavation company in Damariscotta, Maine. Since 1987, we have specialized in all phases of site work, utility installation, paving, and road construction.

We are looking for a reliable and safety-minded Traffic Flagger to join our team. We are willing to train the right candidate. We are looking for someone who is dependable, responsible, willing to pitch in where needed, committed to working safely, and has a positive attitude.

About the Position

As a Traffic Flagger, you will help safeguard fellow workers and guide motorists safely through construction and work zones. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are important. This position requires extended periods of standing and the ability and willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Receive and communicate specific instructions clearly and effectively
• Use signaling devices, including paddles and flags, to provide clear and positive guidance to motorists approaching and traveling through temporary traffic control zones
• Understand and apply safe traffic control practices, including during stressful or emergency situations
• Recognize potentially dangerous traffic situations and warn workers in sufficient time to help prevent injury
• Place and maintain traffic control signage
• Assist with preparation, maintenance, and cleanup of work zones
• Work cooperatively with the crew and follow directions from supervisors
• Perform other duties as assigned

Work Conditions / Physical Demands

• Work is performed outdoors in a road construction environment
• Exposure to traffic, dust, elevated noise levels, and other construction-related hazards
• Work may occur in rain, heat, cold, and other inclement weather conditions
• Regular physical activity includes standing, walking, bending, and moving around active work zones
• Must be able to remain alert and attentive for extended periods while performing traffic control duties
