FLEET CONTROLLER
Location: Middelburg, Mpumalanga

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Operations Management

• Plan, schedule and coordinate vehicle routes and deliveries.
• Monitor fleet performance to ensure on-time and efficient distribution.
• Track vehicle movements using GPS and fleet management systems.
• Ensure compliance with delivery schedules and customer requirements.
• Respond to and resolve operational issues in real time.

Technical & Systems Management

• Use fleet tracking systems, telematics and reporting tools.
• Analyse vehicle data, including fuel usage, routes, driver behaviour and maintenance needs.
• Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements using data insights.
• Maintain and update fleet systems and digital records.

Maintenance & Compliance

• Coordinate vehicle servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and comply with regulations.
• Track licence renewals, permits and insurance documentation.
• Monitor driver compliance, including licences, professional driving permits (PrDPs) and safety requirements.

Administrative Control

• Maintain accurate fleet records, logs and documentation.
• Process fuel usage reports, trip sheets and driver logs.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly fleet reports.
• Ensure proper filing and audit readiness of all fleet documents.
• Manage cost tracking for fuel, maintenance and repairs.

Cost & Efficiency Management

• Monitor fuel consumption and investigate variances.
• Control fleet-related expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Analyse route planning for optimal productivity.
• Reduce downtime and improve fleet utilisation.

Driver & Stakeholder Coordination

• Communicate with drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and procedures.
• Provide operational guidance and support to drivers.
• Work closely with warehouse, dispatch and sales teams.
• Escalate serious issues or unresolved risks to management.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.
• A diploma or certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field is advantageous.
• At least 3–5 years’ experience in fleet or logistics management.
• Experience within an FMCG or high-volume distribution environment.
• Strong computer literacy and experience using fleet management systems.
