Fleet Maintenance, Workshop Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Fleet Maintenance, Workshop Manager to oversee our workshop, fleet maintenance and depot operations. You will do more than manage day-to-day repairs — you will help us reduce breakdowns, improve preventive maintenance and progressively professionalise our workshop operation as the fleet and depot continue to grow.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily workshop operations, preventive maintenance, repairs and vehicle breakdowns
• Manage foremen, mechanics, technicians and workshop workflow to minimise vehicle downtime
• Improve fleet reliability by analysing recurring defects and strengthening preventive maintenance practices
• Manage spare parts, inventories, external workshops, suppliers and maintenance costs
• Work with management to implement CMMS / digital maintenance systems, digital job cards and better maintenance reporting
• Support the use of telematics and vehicle data for preventive maintenance and fault monitoring
• Assist with workshop improvement, equipment planning and future depot expansion
• Monitor key KPIs including fleet availability, breakdowns, downtime, repair turnaround and maintenance cost

About you

• At least 3-5 years in a supervisory or management role in automotive or fleet maintenance
• Preferably experienced with buses, trucks or heavy commercial vehicles
• Strong technical understanding of diesel engines, braking, drivetrain, electrical and commercial vehicle systems
• Experience managing mechanics, preventive maintenance, spare parts and external vendors
• Comfortable using computers and maintenance systems; CMMS or telematics experience is an advantage
• Strong leadership, problem-solving and hands-on management skills
