The Fleet Manager will coordinate with service departments and dispatch teams to optimize vehicle availability, reduce downtime, and manage maintenance schedules proactively. Additionally, this position involves strategic planning to improve fleet operations, control costs, and enhance safety protocols. Ultimately, the Fleet Manager plays a critical role in ensuring seamless transportation management that supports the company’s operational goals and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Transportation Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fleet management or transportation operations.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience managing vehicle maintenance programs and service departments.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Fleet Management (e.g., Certified Automotive Fleet Manager - CAFM).

  • Background in large-scale transportation or logistics companies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices related to fleet operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily fleet operations including vehicle dispatching, routing, and scheduling to maximize efficiency and meet delivery deadlines.
  • Develop and implement maintenance programs to ensure all trucks and vehicles are serviced regularly and comply with safety standards.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with DOT regulations and other relevant transportation laws to maintain fleet safety and legal operation.
  • Collaborate with the service department to coordinate repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Analyze fleet performance data and logistics metrics to identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvements.
  • Oversee procurement, registration, and disposal of fleet vehicles in alignment with budgetary constraints and company policies.
  • Lead and train fleet staff to maintain high standards of service, safety, and operational excellence.

Skills:

The required skills such as fleet management, fleet maintenance, and operations management are essential for coordinating daily vehicle operations and ensuring all fleet assets are in optimal condition. Knowledge of DOT regulations is critical to maintain compliance and avoid legal penalties, while logistics and transportation management skills enable efficient routing and dispatching to meet business demands. The ability to work closely with the service department and oversee truck maintenance ensures minimal downtime and extends vehicle lifespan. Preferred skills like proficiency with fleet management software and leadership capabilities enhance the ability to analyze data, streamline processes, and foster a productive team environment.
